At the moment Intel have almost 94% of the netbook (partially due the the popular Samsung NC 10 netbook market and smartbook market. But, apparently, by 2012, according to Robert Castellano of The Information Network ARM will have gained significant ground on Intel and could potentially own 55% of the market.
Currently, there are approximately 22.1 million Intel units powering Netbooks. Arm curently powers 1.4 million smartbooks. Over the next few years these figurs will become ever closer and then by 2012 Arm may have the majority share with Intel shiiping 43.2 million netbooks and ARM 52.9 million smartbook units. Surely this shows the potential of the smartbook market and how, over time, it may begin to take over this new market. We certainly hope so.
